Anyone who enters BEST WESTERN PREMIER The Haven Ipoh for the first time is usually caught by surprise at the “hidden” paradise of nature, just a stone’s throw away from Ipoh city centre.
Spending time within the grounds of The Haven, one could easily forget that he is in Ipoh. Who would have thought that this city could be so picturesque?
Some would think that they are in Phuket, Thailand or even Guangxi Province in China. That’s because the tower karst hills at The Haven are a rare geological feature that are only found in a handful of sites in Southeast Asia, besides the Kinta Valley!
Yes, you got that right. Phuket, Guangxi Province and Halong Bay in Vietnam are similarly dominated by wet tropical/equatorial climates.
The rock formations at The Haven are said to be from the Permian Period. According to Prof. Dr. Bernard Pierson, Shell Chair in Petroleum Geosciences’ University Technology Petronas, the limestone hills that surround The Haven were deposited 280 million years ago.
With Rockhaven as the central attraction, one is hard-pressed to look for a finer eco-resort of its class in Malaysia.
The development site of The Haven is 13.6 acres, and then there is a lake surface of 4 acres. An additional ten acres are forested, hilly terrain.
As you can see from my photos, more than 80% of the entire resort is natural, left untouched by development. The limestone hills will continue to be there for millions of years.
Is it any wonder that when people say they are taking a holiday at The Haven, they are just spending time at the resort and don’t feel the need to pack their vacation time with a thousand and one activities?
