Just a short stroll from Wang Fu Jing, an upscale shopping district, Beijing’s answer to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, is the Wang Fu Jing Night Food Market.
Although the stalls seem many at first glance, many of them offer the same types of food.
Unlike the typical pasar malam in Malaysia, this one only offers food, but from what I noticed, these food were brought in from various parts of China, not only Beijing.
If you have the stomach for weird food such as spiders, centipedes and scorpions, Wang Fu Jing Night Food Market is not to be missed when you are in Beijing.
Tables and chairs are not provided, so, expect to eat standing, or on the go. Worry not, as food are packed in bowls, or skewered on sticks.
Although one could see what food each stall sells by checking the signboard overhead, most are in Mandarin. Hard luck for those of us who can’t read it.
Wang Fu Jing Night Food Market is open nightly from 6pm to 9pm. It is a good distraction for those of us who do not have the budget for branded wares at Wang Fu Jing Shopping Street.
Despite being street hawkers, vendors are neatly dressed in red caps and aprons. They are difficult to miss.
