Be prepared to walk, a lot, when you visit Malacca. Of course, you can take an easier way out, either by cycling or taking a trishaw ride.

I walked a lot when I was in Malacca, and it helped that one of the hotels we put up at, Quayside Hotel, is located in the most popular heritage belt in the city. It was just a short distance to Stadthuys and Jonker Street, thereafter I could easily hop back to my room for a reprieve from the hot afternoon sun.

This heritage trail is from Stadthuys to A’Famosa Fort. A section of the road that leads to the Fort is closed to cars, anyway. I noticed that there are many museums and galleries along this route, and if I were to visit them one by one, it will certainly take me at least a couple of days.
