1. Grand Alora Hotel, Alor Setar, Kedah
When I checked into Grand Alora Hotel in Alor Setar, I was quite amused by how things turned out.

You see, I was supposed to review the hotel some months back but my schedule was so tight, I couldn’t fit in a trip to Alor Setar. And so, the opportunity passed.

Recently, out of the blue, I had an invitation to participate in the Tone Race to Fiesta Alor Setar and some of the delegates were checked into Grand Alora Hotel. As you probably figured out by now, I was one of them.

I do not know Alor Setar at all but if I am not mistaken, Grand Alora is one of the better hotels in town. It has got to be when branded sales are held here, where t-shirts go for RM300 each!
5. Lengkuas Restaurant
Oh, by the way, I find the location of this hotel most convenient. It is just opposite Tesco Hypermarket and there are plenty of eateries and convenience stores just a couple of steps away.
6. Lobby Lounge
Moreover, many of Alor Setar’s popular tourist destinations are just around the corner. For example, Wat Nikrodharam, State Art Gallery, Nobat Gallery, Royal Hall and Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s birthplace.

Well, it was too bad that I did not have the time to visit any of these attractions. I did, however, go to Alor Setar Tower and managed to shop at Aman Central, said to be the largest shopping mall in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
8. Cataliya Spa
It surprised me that prices for clothes and food here are cheaper compared to Ipoh. So, here are two good reasons to go again just to shop and eat!

Now that I have had a preview of Alor Setar, I wish to return for more experiences. I wouldn’t mind putting up at Grand Alora Hotel again for a clean, comfortable and safe stay. For more details, do check out the Grand Alora Hotel website I have included at the end of this post.
10. gym room
Oh! I almost forgot – the fountain just outside the hotel is a Pokémon GO PokéStop. Wooeeee!

The lowest rate is about RM200 per night. As far as I am aware, they do not have a long-stay package, so the rate will be multiplied by 14 nights.
