Previously known simply as Penang Butterfly Farm, which was opened to the public in March 1986, the farm underwent a rebranding exercise (or rebirth) 1+ year ago, and is now known as “Entopia”.

Penang Butterfly Farm was the brainchild of Mr. David Goh and the business was passed down to his son, Joseph in 2006. It was Joseph’s idea to transform it.

Indeed, Entopia is more than a butterfly farm. It is a “Nature Learning Destination”, a classroom beyond the walls. Besides merely visiting and checking out the butterflies, there are quite a number of Entopia Learning Programmes for people of all ages.

One of the best that I personally participated in was the opportunity to release a newly emerged butterfly into the sky, in a session called “Vita Nova”, Italian for “new life”.
