Despite becoming a rediscovered tourist destination, especially for domestic travellers, one is hard pressed to look for souvenirs of Ipoh city, and Perak as a whole, for loved ones back home.
Visitors who drop by Old Town, along Concubine Lane and Kong Heng Square to be more specific, may be able to pick up a small selection of gifts such as “I Love Ipoh” t-shirts and postcards.
Detecting this void for souvenirs and gifts, Tourism Perak Management Berhad established an official merchandise store along Kinta Riverwalk, in August 2016.
Naming itself Tourism Riverside, the store is, to me, a little off the main tourist strip in Old Town. Nonetheless, Kinta Riverwalk is indeed a rather happening place at night. Good thing the store is open until 10pm, so there’s plenty of time to fit in some shopping.
A quick browse through the store, I was impressed with the range of souvenirs available, beyond t-shirts, postcards and fridge magnets that promote just the capital city of Ipoh, at reasonable prices. I personally like the magic mug that changes colour from black to white when hot water was poured into it.
Have a look at these photos that I am sharing. Can you think of someone who would appreciate a souvenir from Perak? Let’s do our part to promote Ipoh and other parts of Perak to our friends.

Seems pretty limited range at the moment. Hopefully they will develop more creative/nicer merchandises. :D

I always look for souvenir shops when I travel and it's so frustrating when it's so difficult to find one and when the shop merchandise is limited. It's good to know there's new one in Ipoh.

Giving the Leaning Tower to friends from abroad would great and yes, I do agree with you that it is quite hard to find great gifts from Perak.
