If you would love to visit ASEAN Trade Market for some street shopping but it’s Monday evening and the bazaar is closed, Lee Gardens Hatyai Walking Street is a good alternative.
Sure, it’s not the same and many of the apparel here are Chinese products, not Thai, something is better than nothing. At least, one can still buy Thai street food here.
Lee Gardens Hatyai Walking Street used to be short weekend events but if I am not mistaken, it is a permanent fixture now.
This is Hat Yai’s answer to Melaka’s Jonker Walk and Ipoh’s Gerbang Malam. During my visit to Lee Gardens Hatyai Walking Street, there were also street performances by students soliciting donations, as well as a corner to take photographs with small animals, for a fee.
From my understating, these performances and animals are not daily showcases – they only appear when they expect a large crowd of visitors, such as weekends and Malaysian school holidays.
Here I share some random photos with you of Lee Gardens Hatyai Walking Street, so that you know what to expect before visiting.
This trip was made possible by Dexma Express, Malindo Air, 尚游 Premium Travel. Malindo Air Malaysia flies direct from Subang SkyPark Terminal (SZB) and Penang International Airport (PEN) to Hat Yai International Airport (HDY) every Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday.
