Although Ipoh is famous for its dim sum, at ฿18 per basket/plate (x 0.128 to convert to Ringgit) of dim sum at Kho Nang Tae Tiam near Hat Yai city centre, it is a steal.
So, when in Hat Yai, of course one must eat dim sum by hook or by crook! Kho Nang Tae Tiam may not be the best dim sum place in Hat Yai but it is touted as one of the top eateries to go. There are also other dim sum places within the area.
The best, I was informed, is possibly Ama Dimsum. This restaurant is quite a way from city centre – it is located just a short distance from Sakura Budget Hotel, though.
Dim sum in Hat Yai is served in a different manner. Take your pick of dim sum from the wide variety of dishes and baskets. Your order will then be steamed and served to you.
Not only are foodies unable to get dim sum at this price in Ipoh, not even from street vendors, we also can’t find these many varieties of dim sum. Let’s eat dim sum to our heart’s content while in Hat Yai! Here is a list of the top 5 dim sum eateries in Hat Yai, in no particular order.
