Having visited Langkawi a few times, I have heard about Resorts World Langkawi. I had not put up at the property before but was there once to attend a dinner function. I was impressed by the views the resort offered and had hoped to return one day for a longer stay.
Therefore, it was like a dream come true when I was hosted for a 3D/2N holiday at Resorts World Langkawi last weekend.
If you are unfamiliar with Resorts World Langkawi, it is located on the southwestern tip of Langkawi island, 15km from Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
By the way, do you know what does ‘Langkawi’ mean? ‘Lang’ is short for ‘helang’ which denotes ‘eagle’ in Bahasa Malaysia, while ‘kawi’ is a type of red manganese stone. Langkawi’s official name is Langkawi Permata Kedah, or the Jewel of Kedah.
Since its inception in 1997, Resorts World Langkawi is definitely not new. However, it is currently undergoing a refurbishment exercise whereby out of a total of 211 rooms and suites, half of them have been renovated, so they are as good as new.
There are a total of five categories of rooms: Standard, Premier, Suite, Signature Suite and Presidential Suite. All of these well-appointed rooms offer picture-perfect views of the Andaman Sea. Some Standard and Premier rooms have lush garden views instead.
For your information, the Presidential Suite is not open for booking, which means that the best rooms that paying guests could hope for is the Signature Suite.
There are two units of these Signature Suites only, going at about RM4,800 per night. The Signature Suite is really luxurious, with its own spa room and private elevator. Ah, what more could one ask for in this timeless paradise?
For the rest of us who do not have in-room spa, we can still enjoy a rejuvenating time at the 5-star Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa. Holistic treatments are offered here for guests to get pampered; body and mind. Some of the Javanese massages and treatments provided are hand and foot therapy, as well as aromatherapy massages.
While deciding on accommodation during a holiday, it is usually determined by what we want out of the trip. Do we want total rest and relaxation, or do we want just a bed to sleep on for that few hours at night?
Resorts World Langkawi provides the kind of accommodation that gives us a real holiday, whereby we can have our days fully occupied without having to leave the property.
Adventurous guests can opt for recreational water sports that are available within the vicinity of the resort. These activities include jet-skiing, scuba-diving and snorkelling.
As for those looking for a more laid-back vacation, besides getting pampered at Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa, they can also spend a few good hours watching the sunrise and sunset, with a Piña Colada in hand, or swim in the new infinity pool.
Talking about the pool, it is a refreshing feature of Resorts World Langkawi, completed on 10th February, 2018. Overlooking the Andaman Sea, this infinity pool is a salt water pool, causing someone to feel as though swimming in the sea. Pool hours are from 8am to 8pm, but the space is open for booking for private events and parties.
Feeling hungry? Take your pick of meal from three F&B options. The all-day dining Seagull Coffee House serves a delicious array of Asian and international cuisines. Open from 7am to 10.30pm, this is where guests enjoy their complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning.
Fancy al fresco dining? Then opt for Zest, at the boardwalk, especially during sunset! Perhaps you can also get a glorious view of the legendary Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of Pregnant Maiden). And then there is the Lobby Lounge, where drinks and live entertainment are the order of the day.
