If you had thought that Langkawi is solely about duty-free shopping, massages and cable car rides, you can’t be more wrong. The island now boasts a treetop challenge known as Umgawa Zipline Eco Adventures.

Opened to the public sometime in October 2016, its catchy name was derived from old Tarzan movies, where Tarzan himself used it to communicate with animals.

Umgawa Zipline Eco Adventures is located merely two minutes from the famous Langkawi SkyCab and SkyBridge, which means that what you can see while sitting in a cable car in Langkawi, you have an equally vantage view of the breathtaking Andaman Sea as well as the Seven Wells waterfall, as you soar through towering trees in the rainforest canopy on the fringe of Machinchang Geoforest Park.

On the other hand, Big Waterfall Adventure is a more advanced course that takes at least two hours to complete. With 12 ziplines of lengths up to 200 metres and heights of 80 metres, including a honeymoon double-line, 3 sky-bridges and wraps up with a steep Great Abseil, Big Waterfall Adventure is not for the faint-hearted.

At Umgawa, though, safety is top priority and each group of a maximum of 8 is escorted by two Safety Sky Rangers at all times. This means that adults and children alike can participate in the activities at Umgawa as long as they can be fitted with a harness and in good health.

The two Safety Sky Rangers handle everything technical, so the only thought guests have is the beauty of nature from a bird’s-eye view.
