I was hosted for a night at Best Western Petaling Jaya earlier this week, a good break away from my desk for a short while. It was a wonderful 24 hours, whereby I just spent the entire time within the hotel and the commercial block where it is situated. After a hectic day in Kuala Lumpur, being caught in horrendous traffic congestion, it was serenity that was most inviting.

When you stay at Best Western PJ, you can have all meals taken care of at the hotel itself, available from two Food & Beverage outlets. Ignore the fact that there are 101 fancy cafés located nearby or that the hotel is just a stone’s throw away from the SS2 hawker centre.

Indulge in a scrumptious poolside BBQ buffet dinner at the hotel’s Rooftop SkyZ Dine & Bar, at an attractive price of RM66 nett per adult (RM33 nett /child and RM55 nett /senior) for hotel guests paying with Maybank card. Do take note that this promotion is available on Fridays and Saturdays only, from 6.30pm to 10pm, and is valid until 29th Dec, 2018. Otherwise, it is RM110 net /adult.

Items from the griller include chicken wings, baked fish, marinated squid, beef steak, chicken sausages, prawns, otak-otak, lamb shoulder and mussels.

Also part of the buffet dinner are generous spreads of main courses and desserts, as well as action stalls, and my all-time buffet favourite: free-flow ice cream!

What a surprise it was that I couldn’t resist stuffing myself during dinner, despite a satisfying lunch. Are you aware that Best Western PJ is running a lunch promotion at its Kembali Kitchen (Level 6)?

The newly introduced Warisan Set Lunch is priced at merely RM15 nett per set. Select one out of three choices of Rendang Ekor, Ayam Bakar Percik Kelantan and Asam Pedas Ikan Pari. Each set, with a plate of rice, a serving of vegetables, a bowl of soup and pieces of keropok ikan, comes with a complimentary glass of Iced Lemon Tea.

The following morning, after a most comfortable night, it was time to eat again! Haha… now you know why I can’t stay slim! There is a modest gym room in the hotel but there were also 1,001 excuses for me not to utilise it! Oh-uh. My bad.

Did you know that I used to only arrange accommodations in Kuala Lumpur city centre when I visited the capital? Now I know better that Petaling Jaya is the place to stay for some peace and quiet.

By the way, Best Western Petaling Jaya is located in Section 13 Petaling Jaya, a business and development district. Those who are unfamiliar with the area may miss spotting the hotel as it does not feature a grand entrance that we are so used to.

However, travellers to metropolitan cities may already expect such hotels, where the lobby is on an upper floor of the building. In the case of Best Western PJ, walk in the unassuming entrance, take a left turn to the elevators and ride up to the 6th floor to the lobby.

Best Western PJ is an integral part of the CentreStage Complex that encompasses leisure, retail, work, lifestyle and business. It is just a short walk to the redeveloped Jaya Shopping Centre and Digital Mall. Other popular landmarks, a short drive away, include Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre as well as its theme park, Sunway Lagoon in Bandar Sunway, Paradigm Mall, 1 Utama and Ikea Damansara.

Shopping havens heading towards Kuala Lumpur are MidValley Megamall, Bangsar Village and Bangsar Shopping Centre. All in all, a very strategic location to stay, whether for leisure, business, or a full rest & recreation, like what I did.
