1. Telegraph Museum in Taiping, Perak
One of the newest attractions in Taiping, this Telegraph Museum was formerly the Post & Telegraph Office. It was the first such office in Malaya to provide one-stop telegram, telephone, postal and banking facilities to the public since 1885.

The building is located in the heart of Taiping town, along Jalan Stesen. It was the forefront of the earliest railway route in the country, connecting Taiping and Port Weld (now Kuala Sepetang).

Taiping Telegraph Museum occupies two floors. On the ground floor is where we can learn about the Telegraph Network in Malaya, such as telegraph and Morse Code, the beginning of telegraphy services in Malaysia, and more.

On the upper floor, highlights include the unsung heroes of telegraphy. This also serves as a resource centre for everything related to telecommunications.

The museum’s courtyard, known as the Telegraph Museum Square, is adorned with trees related to telegraph technology. Logs from these tree species were used to make telegraph poles.
9. the arches
While visiting, don’t forget to pay close attention to the design of the building, which features Queen Anne’s architecture in the 1880s to 1890s. It is one of the earliest colonial buildings in Perak, built by the Public Works Department in 1883 at a cost of 4,070 Straits dollar.
