This quaint little bistro is located in the middle of popular Jonker Street in Melaka. This shop house is said to be the oldest on this street, built in 1673. I understand that it was formerly known as “Atlas Ice Building”.
We were there for tea recently, and was served one of the most delicious cendol, which was rich in santan (coconut milk) and gula Melaka (Malaccan palm sugar).
A friend, who went there the night before, attracted by its live band, told us that the tiramisu served was the best he had ever tried.
Bistro Year 1673, which was opened in November 2010, serves Western, Peranakan, Chinese and local delicacies. It has live band entertainment every night from 8pm onwards.
I personally think its location is exceptionally strategic, especially for tourists who are tired from the long walk along Jonker Street, shopping for souvenirs! It is a good escape from the heat of the day.
This bistro, owned by KAJ Group, is only one of their string of establishments, including Melaka Wonderland, Melaka Zoo & Night Safari, Wildlife Theatre Melaka, Melaka Bird Park, Malaysia Eye and River Cruise Hotel.
