Three years after my vacation here, I am back in Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel again for a short break.

The resort now sports a new brand and a second block of deluxe suites, named D’Ocean. The first block of superior apartments where I previously put up at is called D’Sea.

There will be a total of three blocks of suites. D’Ocean was completed in June last year but only began operations six months ago in November. The third block has yet to be built.

Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel used to be known as BEST WESTERN Marina Island Resort but the property is no longer managed by the BEST WESTERN GROUP, but by the owner company.

At this point, there are 212 apartments for guests, from one to three-bedroom suites. There are two magnificent views to choose from, either Pangkor island or the lagoon.

One distinctive feature about the guest rooms is that all of them are spacious, bearing in mind family vacationers.

Amenities in these suites include complimentary coffee and tea making facilities, mini bar, hair dryer, free wireless internet access, individual air-conditioning with energy saving features, and television with selected Astro channels.

For the comfort and convenience of guests, services offered either complimentary or at a nominal fee are limousine transfer, tour and sightseeing coordinator, laundry and room service.

Within D’Sea and D’Ocean are seven meeting rooms to cater for functions and seminars of various sizes. Additionally, there is the Marina Convention Centre, a stone’s throw away that can accommodate up to 2,000 pax theatre-style.

As a beach-fronted resort, you can be sure there are many activities that guests could indulge in. Besides, its setting makes an idyllic venue for a beach wedding.

Many people who come by do not realise that they are on an island. Yes, Marina Island Pangkor Resort & Hotel is located on a “man-made” island.

There used to be a core island, but the sea that surrounded the island has been reclaimed and a road was built to bridge the mainland to the island, making it more convenient for visitors.

Due to the expanded island, Pangkor is even closer, and in fact, many of the apartments offer an excellent view of Pangkor island.

Taking the ferry to Pangkor island from the jetty in Marina Island is just a ten-minute ride but if one were to go to Pangkor island from the jetty in Lumut, it would require a 40-minute ride.
