The brainchild of current Menteri Besar Perak (Chief Minister of Perak) YAB Dato’ Seri Diraja Zambry bin Hj Abdul Kadir, Pangkor Gallery (Galeri Pangkor) is a modest gallery housed in a building that was previously a school.
Opened on Nov 18, 2010, the artefacts and items on display were previously from The National Museum.
When this gallery was being established, all Pangkor-related information and items were moved here. Some other items were sponsored by residents of the island.
Although there are quite a number of things to learn from here, items are labelled in Bahasa Malaysia, the national language.
The gallery is open daily from 8am to 5pm. Guided tours for groups are available upon request. It will be conducted in Bahasa Malaysia.
Admission is free-of-charge. Worth a visit only if you are interested in the local history.
