With 38 years of experience in the kitchen, Chef Farhan Wong spent seven long years concocting his all-purpose seasoning, or in his own words, all-seasoning sauce.
Named Farhan Seasoning Sauce, some of the ingredients used in the seasoning include corn oil, English mustard and light soy sauce. All in all, there are more than ten ingredients. I managed to get the secret ingredient from him and it is vinegar.
According to Chef Wong, even if you do not have any other sauce at home, by using his seasoning, you can cook anything you like, and they will taste just as good. Use it for vegetables, to season meat and even to fry noodles, it is suitable, without all tasting similar.
I have no reason not to believe him as he demonstrated the usage of the seasoning with his preparation of chicken cheese, chicken nuggets, chicken boxing, Chinese-style fried egg and Cantonese-style fried noodles.
I love it that one doesn’t have to marinate the meat for a long time unlike some other seasoning. It is also not necessary to add any other seasoning or sauce. However, if you want a heavier flavour, you may add in sesame oil.
Apart from Chinese and Western, the 54-year-old from Kuala Kubu Bharu, who has worked in hotels and as an off-shore chef, is equally deft in cooking Malay cuisine and baking pastries.
Chef Wong’s all-purpose seasoning is sold at RM10 per bottle. You are entitled to a discount if you purchase a dozen bottles and above.
