As you probably can tell already, Sea Lion HomeStay is owned by the same family who runs Hotel Sea Lion on the island of Pulau Ketam.
Although I personally find Hotel Sea Lion extremely convenient as it is just steps from the Pulau Ketam Jetty, there is no denying that there are some travellers who prefer a homestay concept.
Sea Lion HomeStay is located on one section of the island, within a residential area, and away from the tourist trail. It takes a bit of walking to reach and the good thing is that there are signage along the way. However, you could always rent a bicycle or electric scooter, or request for shuttle service, for yourself and your luggage!
I don’t mind the walking distance but I am not keen to drag my luggage along the narrow pathways. I’m the kind of traveller who wouldn’t mind paying for shuttle service. What about you?
Do take note that booking Sea Lion HomeStay is made through Hotel Sea Lion. The lodgings are normally closed but open only on weekends, unless there is special reservation for weekdays. Sea Lion HomeStay, which was established about a year ago, has twelve units of guest rooms that can accommodate from two to six guests via their four categories of rooms.
With Sungai Satu running through the back of the property, this is a great place for anglers to stay. They don’t need to go too far to fish. Just put their rod out during high tide, which happens twice a day! Belukang and Sembilang are two common species found here.
Those who plan to hold a BBQ party should also consider Sea Lion HomeStay as pits are already provided. There is also a freezer to keep your meat. So, what type of accommodation do you prefer? Conventional hotel or a homestay, sans host?
