If you know me well, you will notice that I hardly return to the same hotel to stay. This is because I prefer to try out different accommodations and gain wider experiences, from conventional hotels to dorms, bed and breakfasts, capsules, etc.
However, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral Hotel is one hotel that I would gladly stay over and over again. This is not because it is a “atas” (upscale) hotel but its location is just ultra strategic for me, who commutes often between Ipoh and KL.
Even when I do not need to spend a night in KL, I do sometimes have to waste hours waiting for my train, so I usually “lepak” at NU Sentral, dubbed the first “transumer” (transit consumer) mall in the country.
I have to admit, though, the time I spend window shopping is not as enjoyable when bogged down with heavy luggage! Now, having a room at Aloft KL Sentral is another story altogether.
Anyway, in the blink of an eye, Aloft KL Sentral is celebrating its fourth anniversary already, after its opening in March 2013. The 31-storey hotel consists of 482 spacious rooms and suites. It is in fact the largest Aloft chain of hotels in the world. Just for your information, the lifestyle brand of Aloft is the sister of Starwood Group’s W Hotels.
Although I think that this four-star Aloft KL Sentral caters to business travellers, its trendsetting elements and bright colours give me the impression that it appeals more to a younger set of travellers, and not necessarily those who are on transit like me, who just need a roof over their head for one night.
By the way, Aloft KL Sentral offers a good number of F&B outlets serving a variety of dining options because the hotel is so centrally located that you can easily grab “mall fare” or just take a walk out to KL’s Little India in Brickfields for local dishes, Indian or other cuisines.

Gorgeous setting located in one of the most convenient places. No reason to stay there, but it would be recommended for those who like to stay in a central area.
