On excursions to Northern Perak over the past few months with some friends, we have had the opportunity to try catfish curry (kari ikan sembilang) from various Malay eateries.
This dish is particularly popular at some towns, and upon recommendation, we stopped by for meals.
I have to say that I have been disappointed more than a couple of times, when the food was not up to expectations.
However, Mak Alang’s catfish curry AND spicy crabs were better than I dared to expect. Well, with a stall just next to a river, I had my initial reservations.
Selera Azrorasa is in a Malay village that is not accessible by public transport or heavy vehicles. Anyway, look for Ngah Ibrahim’s Fort, turn into its junction so that the fort would be on your right. Just continue driving along the road, which will lead you to Kampung Matang Gelugor. Selera Azrorasa is just after the bridge, on your right.
