There is a new landmark in Kampong Bharu, Kuala Lumpur in the form of TAMU Hotel & Suites by ZIKAY Group Sdn. Bhd.
Located at the strategic intersection of Jalan Raja Abdullah and Jalan Raja Alang in one of the city’s oldest Malay residential areas, the commanding architecture of this 40+ floors building certainly grabs one’s attention.
TAMU Hotel & Suites is very new, and its soft launch is expected to be in mid-February. The Malaysia Tourism Council’s Road to Agro Tourism Vol. 3 delegation, yours truly included, was the first group of guests it hosted.
As ‘tamu’ means ‘guest’ in English, checking in at the hotel, one is assured of warm hospitality and top-notch services. There are 276 tastefully-appointed rooms, from 15th to 26th floor of this four-star Shariah-compliant business-class hotel. Suites are located on the 29th to 40th floors. These units are for sale.
There are five F&B outlets in TAMU, with the main coffee house on Level 27, aptly named Suasana @ 27. With almost floor-to-ceiling glass windows, enjoy a panoramic skyline of Kuala Lumpur city, including the imposing Petronas Twin Towers (KLCC).
Do take note that TAMU is built in such a way to gain advantage from the best views of Kuala Lumpur. The L-shaped ballroom, infinity swimming pool and a number of guest rooms look out to the Twin Towers in the horizon. Some of the rooms have the KL Tower view.
However, there are also rooms that offer views of BOTH Petronas Twin Towers AND KL Tower. Truth be told, I have yet to come across a hotel in Kuala Lumpur that has such fantastic views. If this is what you look forward to, do leave a note with your reservation.
There are four categories of rooms: Standard, Deluxe, Junior Suite and Suite. Rates start from RM250 nett for Standard rooms.
Views aside, TAMU Hotel, located within the historically-steeped enclave of Kampong Bharu provides guests with various interesting local attractions, just a short distance from the property.
Many people may not be aware that Kampong Bharu is a food haven. Besides dining options, guests at TAMU can also easily enjoy the best of shopping, entertainment and old world charm at their doorstep.
Meanwhile, the bright lights of Petronas Twin Towers, Pavilion and Bukit Bintang are merely ten minutes away by car. By the way, Kampung Baru LRT Station is just around the corner, providing accessibility to the entire city, linked via Light Rail Transit.
Having spent a short night here, this is one hotel that I won’t mind checking in again.
