Taiwan has been full of surprises for a first time visitor like me. Going to Schokolake was one of them, making the exploration of small towns from Taipei to Tainan so much more memorable.
Schokolake in Dahu Township, Miaoli County, is the island country’s first chocolate-themed manor, with English countryside houses surrounded by beautifully manicured gardens and strawberry farms on this vast estate.
Schokolake, or in simpler English “Chocolate Story House”, offers exceptionally popular country-style accommodation, listed on the internet as Schokolake B&B, a wonderful option for families or groups of friends who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
For tourists who would like to explore Miaoli tourism at a deeper level, Schokolake makes a great base as well.
However, you would need to have access to private transport, as Schokolake seems to be out of the way from conveniences such as mini marts.
Coming to Schokolake is like arriving at chocolate haven. Obviously, the main product produced by Schokolake is handmade chocolates; all its cocoa beans are imported from Ecuador, South America. DIY workshops are conducted here, while allows participants to make their own chocolates. From what I understand, Schokolake is the only venue in Taiwan that offers the Beans to Bar experience.
What stood out for me at Schokolake is its restaurant, where the food served has a touch of chocolate in every item. Don’t you think this is a unique menu?
Although it wasn’t exactly lunch time yet, we couldn’t resist trying these popular Western dishes, with a chocolatey twist to them.
