Was on a food hunting trip to Malacca recently and stayed at Case del Rio for two nights.

Just around the corner from the hotel is the famous pork satay house. We obviously had to drop by before leaving Malacca.

3. a container-full of skewered marinated meat ready to be grilled

It was lunch hour on a Sunday, so I guess, popular as they are, we were rather lucky to be able to get a table for three.

Total wait time was “only” about 30 minutes. It was good that they gave us some satay to start our meal first and then topped up the balance of our order when the satays were available.

It has certainly been a long while since I had pork satay. Since I don’t take beef, I would only take chicken satay. I am unsure if pork satay is still available in Ipoh….I need to go and check the stall in Ipoh Old Town.

But then again, Ipoh’s pork satay would be Cantonese-style while this one at Sun May Hiong is said to be Hainanese-style.

The sauce here is a little sourish compared to the other famous pork satay shop in Malacca. Could it be because of the pineapple?

Well, it’s a closely guarded secret as the sauce is what makes or breaks a satay meal.

    wow~~ thanks for introduce this! I never really know there is pork satay in Malaysia. i thought pork satay only available in thai cuisine or thai restaurant in Malaysia. but the guarded secret sauce nice?

    Seeing the amount of the crowd, I was so tempt to try too!
