While visiting Melaka (Malacca), there are two cuisines that one must try: Portuguese and Peranakan (Nyonya).
As you can see already, my recent trip to the World UNESCO Heritage City of Melaka saw me indulging in a scrumptious Peranakan dinner at the popular Restoran Nyonya Suan.
Located along Jalan Merdeka in Plaza Merdeka, opposite Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall, Restoran Nyonya Suan attracts many diners, both local and foreign.
I do not have much information about this eatery except to say that it was established in 1998. Also, these dishes were kindly recommended by its proprietor, Mr. Vincent Tan.
By the way, ikan lemak nanas is the chef’s signature dish. As you can see, except for the egg and dessert, they are all spicy dishes, although the level of spiciness differed.
From these photos, you will notice that Restoran Nyonya Suan serves Southern Nyonya cuisine, which is heavily influenced by the Malay and Indonesian styles of cooking.
If you have dined at Restoran Nyonya Suan in Melaka before, do share your experience with me.

The food looks yummy.... so hungry now and there's no nyonya food around me. Craving for the tauhu nyonya, ayam rendang and kangkung cili belacan. Would love to try their signature, ikan lemak nanas some day ;)
