Of the numerous times that I had walked past Home Motel during my two back-to-back visits to Pulau Ketam in May, there was not once that I spotted the motel open. It appeared to be closed for business.
I kinda suspected that Home Motel is also owned by Hotel Sea Lion as I noticed its logo printed on the hotel’s brochure.
Later, I managed to get some information about Home Motel and even talked my way into having a look inside so that I can share some photos with you for an additional option to put up at when you plan a vacation in Pulau Ketam.
Home Motel was opened for business in 2009. It is a motel converted from a double-storey shophouse, just a short walk from the Pulau Ketam Jetty and an even shorter distance from the private jetty next to BOMBA.
It only has 16 rooms. The three categories of rooms are: one double bed for two guests, two double beds for four guests, as well as one double and two single beds also for four guests.
By the looks of it, the primary reason for the establishment of Home Motel was to support Hotel Sea Lion Pulau Ketam during peak seasons.
Hotel Sea Lion Pulau Ketam, with a history of 22 years, can be so popular during the holidays that it often gets overbooked. When all 42 rooms are taken up, guests are offered accommodation at Home Motel, which they willingly accept.
Viewing the rooms of Home Motel, they do look similar to Hotel Sea Lion Pulau Ketam. The only difference, I’d say, is that Hotel Sea Lion offers sea views but Home Motel does not.

The interior and the facilities is not that bad for a motel. How about the pricing?

Hi Zayani,
Rates are the same as Sea Lion Hotel Pulau Ketam. You can check from their official website:
