The Melaka Bird Park, which was launched in March 2013, currently has about thirty species of birds from Asia, South America, Africa and Australia.
By the end of June, this first open aviary bird park would have expanded its collection of birds and all the known bird species in the world would be available at this bird park.
It also aims to be the only bird park in the world to house the largest collection of Malaysian bird species. There are nearly 700 bird species that roam the land and waterways of Malaysia.
In addition, the management of the bird park are taking steps to protect endangered bird species, and one of them is to breed birds. During my visit, the staff were very excited to share the good news that they successfully saw through the birth of a few pea-chicks.
The highlight of Melaka Bird Park is the skywalk. At a height of 12 metres, with a length of 108 metres, visitors get to be closer to the birds as they fly overhead.
The bird park is currently running a promotion where entrance is only RM10 per adult. This promotion is valid until 31st July, 2013.
Normal ticket prices are as follow:
RM20 adult
RM15 child 5 years old and below
