A lot of people wonder what is there to do in Perak. Being such a huge state, undoubtedly there are plenty of enjoyable things that cater to different groups of visitors. For lovers of outdoor nature adventure, Gopeng should not be a stranger to them.

Offering the best of outdoor adventures in the form of caving, abseiling, white water rafting, water tubing, camping, ziplining, hiking, and activities of similar nature due to its geographical location and terrain, Gopeng certainly challenges one to go beyond his or her comfort zone.

Obviously, when indulging in such sporty activity, safety is of utmost concern. One can’t just dive head on without being equipped with safety gear, right? Therefore, it is very important to engage an experienced company that knows the area well and can draw up an itinerary that ensures the best use of your time in Gopeng.

Operation Red Sea is a massive production that took nine months to film. Based on a true story about a Chinese-led evacuation mission during the 2015 Yemeni civil war, this action-spy movie, shot on location in Morocco (North Africa), features the rare genre of modern warfare. Extensive research has been put into its production, so much so that Operation Red Sea is now used as part of study material for the military, air force and naval academies in China.

Did you know that Canton-i is the sister restaurant of Dragon-i? I am unsure which chain is more popular but personally, Dragon-i is more accessible to me because they have an outlet at AEON Ipoh Station 18, which makes it more convenient for me to dine in.

For the longest time, I had scoffed at the benefits of bird’s nest. Many people say how effective it is and how it can make women beautiful. I did not believe them. 1. Malindo Air Malaysia aircraft at Subang SkyPark Terminal (Subang Airport)

If given a choice to take the road, rail or plane to a destination, I naturally choose to fly. Although it could be pricier, it is at least time-saving and more comfortable.

My most recent trip saw me flying Malindo Air from Subang SkyPark Terminal (SZB) to Hat Yai International Airport (HDY).

To many Ipohites, Hat Yai is like their second home, due to its proximity. In fact, I know many who would drive north to Hat Yai for the weekend. Those who are more adventurous and have a bit of time to spare would take the train. It’s approximately 6+ hours for either mode of transport.

2. Hat Yai International Airport arrival gate

2. Hat Yai International Airport arrival gate

To fly from Subang SkyPark Terminal takes about 1.5 hours only. That’s many an hour saved, which was why I opted for flight. This is a new route served by Malindo Air. There are four direct flights a week from Subang SkyPark Terminal: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, at 0950 hrs.

Malindo Air also now flies direct from Penang International Airport (PEN) to Hat Yai International Airport (HDY) on the same days of the week, but at 1300 hrs. Malindo Air departs from HDY for PEN at 1050 hrs and for SZB at 1315 hrs.

3. Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)

3. Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)

Oh, by the way, if you fly to Hat Yai, do not worry that you will not be able to move around easily. There are many transportation options, from car rental as low as ฿1150 per day (x 0.128 to convert to Ringgit) to chartering a tuk tuk or taking the public transport in the form of songthaew, a type of pick-up trucks painted in different colours to serve various routes. It is ฿30 per person from Hat Yai International Airport to Hat Yai city centre, alighting at Kim Yong Market or Clock Tower.

4. the arch at Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)

4. the arch at Hat Yai International Airport (HDY)

Alternatively, arrange with your hotel for airport transfer. The fare is about ฿400 per vehicle, one way, depending on the distance between the airport and your hotel. Whatever the case, moving around in Hat Yai is very easy! Just make sure not to get fleeced by tuk tuks!
